Where I’ve Been, Where I’m Going

Why, hello world!

I haven’t written a blog post since Thanksgiving?! Oh my stars! Well that is about to change, believe you me.

I must admit that things have been kind of crazy in the world of Randi. I have been traveling a lot and making some pretty big changes. But things are getting back to normal, and I’m excited about what is in store for my little business and me.

So what exactly have I been up to? Well I’m happy to report that I officially opened a Homegrown Healing location! It is located in Sandy, UT, and I’m pretty excited about it. So far I have just been doing it out of my home, but I got big plans for my new location. Big plans, people!

I’m still making some finishing touches on the space, but here is what I have so far:

Don’t you just want to come here, relax, and leave your worries at the door? I know I do. And I do! I love it, love it.

I know you just want to jump in your car and come right on over, but you will have to wait until April 30th. Why? Well, that leads me to my other bit of news. Read more

Post-Thanksgiving Recovery Tips

Posted on by admin Posted in Nutrition, Yoga | 5 Comments

As hard as I tried to make this year’s Thanksgiving as mindful and healthy as possible, I still ended up gorging my face on all of the delicious Thanksgiving goodness. It was my first time hosting Thanksgiving, so I made sure all of my favorite things were made. I was so giddy over my Wild Rice dressing stuffed into acorn squash and mushroom gravy drizzled over mashed red potatoes, that I just couldn’t help myself.

Warm up with this Moroccan Tagine Inspired recipe

A few months ago I had the opportunity to galavant about Morocco with a few of my girlfriends. I have never been in a culture so different than my own, and I will admit that it was exciting, challenging, and crazy, all at the same time.

We just happened to be there at the same time as Ramadan. For those that don’t know, Ramadon is an Islamic holiday in which you fast durning the day for about a month in order to teach patience, humility, and submissiveness to God.

It was a surreal experience to wander the usually bustling streets of Rabat as the Call to Prayer echoed through the empty streets. Read more

IMG 0961 The Turning of Autumn: Time for a Change

Oh, the turning of autumn. The crisp wind cools down the blistering hot days of summer and signals to the trees that it’s time for a change. The birds begin to migrate overhead as the squirrels gather acorns on the ground. Things are changing and every living thing is preparing for it.

The changing of the seasons is a perfect time for us to look inward, reflect on our current state, and prepare ourselves to make improvements in areas of our lives that aren’t working anymore. I don’t know about you, but I feel the most productive and ready for change in the autumn months. Something about the flavors of butternut squash and pumpkin combined with the vibrant earth tones leaking through the leaves, makes me excited to be alive and motivates me to switch things up a bit.

In order for any transition to go smoothly, we need to have a firm foundation to rely on. In yoga, solid core strength is needed to smoothly transition from one pose to the next. Read more

First of all, thank you for visiting me here at RandiKayMartin.com, be it on purpose or on accident. Feel free to poke around and learn a little bit more about me and what I have to offer.

This site is mainly for my new blog, which I’m really excited about. With a degree in Creative Writing, I’m always looking for excuses to write. I’m also pretty obsessed with my jobs of being a Massage Therapist and Yoga Instructor. I love researching and learning more about the body and how we can become healthier and happier. This blog combines my love for writing with my love of my profession. Read more
